For Winter Break Ryan and I flew to California to spend the holidays with some of our family and friends. We started in San Mateo where we met my mom's newest pet, Bourbon, the world's first Doberman Pinscher lapdog.

My sister and our "partners" have spent Christmas together 2 years in a row.
See how British I am? I say "partners." |
Off to the Rancho Vitta Bella, the home of Ryan's step-dad and his partner, Renee. We were lucky to have both of Ryan's brothers, their families, and Renee's daughters home for the holidays as well! With all of those people in one house, this could have been the Christmas to remember for being either a) an awesome family experience or b) the year of the major holiday blowout. Luckily, Google is there to resolve most of Ryan and his brothers' arguments, so this was an awesome family experience. We spent the week making holiday crafts, playing games, and catching up.

| An intense game of Jenga. Ava is pensive and Isaac doubts my abilities |

Nicci working on a challenging puzzle.
It felt impuzzible! |
 |
| Ava gained a Taylor Swift CD and lost a tooth this Christmas. |
We even took a trip to the beach, just like we do in England!
At every Kirchner gathering there are LOTS of sports. Soft eyes and ears keep me sane.

A bet gone awry has Jason eating his shoe. That will teach him to root
for the Utes. Sucka! |

| More photos from the RVB. |
We drove down to San Luis Obispo to visit with Ryan's mom. We hiked, drank wine, and celebrated our first Hanukah!
 |
| We celebrated the eighth crazy night with Ryan's mom and her partner Joe. |
We also got to see a few friends in our brief time in California.
 |
| I visited with the Wintons and fairy god-son, Elias! |
 |
| Ryan's first taste of victory in a LONG time! |
Many thanks to those of you that opened your hearts and homes us this holiday season!
