Abby and Mario take on Hong Kong

Exhausted yet culturally and gastronomically satisfied, Mario, Abby, Ryan, and I returned to Hong Kong. First on our HK agenda? Din Tai Fung. In a previous post, I mentioned you should come to Hong Kong for the dumplings alone. Mario and Abby took us seriously!

The next day we took them to The Peak, a fabulous lookout point. You take a tram straight uphill and get off at a shopping center (this is Asia, after all). There is also a paved trail around The Peak with great views. However, you need cooperative weather to see the famous Hong Kong skyline and, unfortunately, Abby and Mario brought the UK weather with them to Asia.

Into the mist.
Spooky!
Little did Abby and Mario know they were in for the pinnacle of their Asian adventure - softball! We went to see Ryan play in the championship of the Hong Kong men's softball league. I'm pretty sure they would agree it was the highlight of their trip, and their support was critical to Brewhouse victory!

I think Ryan deserves a trophy for this swing alone!
Another Hong Kong treat was visiting with Mario's old college friend and her husband. B and A also moved to Hong Kong in August, and they were so much fun! We cracked a couple bottles of wine on the top of IFC, a local mall. IFC has a great rooftop area that's open to the public. You can choose to eat and drink at one of the restaurants, or you can bring your own food and drinks, kick back, and enjoy the view.

From the rooftop of IFC. Thanks, Instagram!

A trip to HK wouldn't be complete without a trip to Thailand. What? For a complete explanation, see this previous post. After a gorgeous hike on Dragon's Back, we ate at our favorite Thai restaurant on the island and took a stroll on the beach.

We love Thailand! And Hong Kong! Wait, where are we?
Mario and Abby returned to London, too quickly for my preference. Having the four of us in 550 square feet was surprisingly comfortable (hint to you, future visitors!), and it was great to reconnect with friends. Fortunately, we'll see them this June in the UK, where we'll toast the summer with a slideshow from Spring Break and head off to get lost in the British hillside again.

I am glad there is photographic evidence of that softball game because there is no way I would believe that Rachel went otherwise! SOFTBAN!!!
