The Darndest Thing Happened.....Again!

It's interesting to think about the many different paths our friends' lives have taken, and it's something special when they cross again in the most unexpected times and places.

Last night I went to dinner with my most recent path-crosser, Emily. We met up in Central, hemmed and hawed over where to eat for dinner, and finally decided on Yardbird, a cool little restaurant and bar in Sheung Wan. As we were munching on edamame, I look over and see a familiar face. It's Sebastian, a friend from college who I hadn't seen in over ten years!

Now, this is not quite as random as it sounds. He had recently contacted Ryan and me to tell us he's in Hong Kong on business. He's got one foot in San Francisco and the other here in HK doing a project with the airport expansion. Because of our EXTREME! workload, we wouldn't get a chance to see him until August. Disappointed, but understanding that this is the pace of life in HK, we resigned to see him in a couple of months.

Turns out I didn't need to wait! I'm starting to think that the universe has some sort of long distance, drawn out reunion in store for me here in Hong Kong.

We invited Seb over to join us, and we laughed the night away over mojitos and KFC. No, no, not like Colonel Sanders. It's Kentucky Fried Cauliflower, a signature dish at Yardbird, and it's nothing short of fabulous.
