This year Madeline got into the spirit of Chinese New Year. She dressed up in a Chinese shirt (accompanied by the very traditional tutu, of course), made dumplings at school, and stayed up to watch the fireworks show over the Hong Kong harbour.
We were lucky to have our friends the Pauls join us from California to celebrate the week of Chinese New Year as well! Jessica and I have been friends when we met on the plane to Madrid while we were both studying through the UC system in 1998. We've been great friends and travelling buddies ever since and her husband, Ryan, loves to travel as well. We've been all around California together, they came to join us for part of our honeymoon in Spain, and they even visited us when we lived in Thailand. The Paul children have adopted their parents' adventurous spirit. Once they realised how much fun their parents were having without them, they wouldn't let them travel alone anymore!

| Someone thought it would be a good idea to let Madeline carry the cupcakes home. Hmmmmmmm. |
The Pauls really wanted to experience ALL of Hong Kong culture, so they stayed with us for five nights. Who said 4 adults, 3 children, and two babies in utero can't fit in 800 square feet?! It was like having a huge slumber party, and Madeline loved having the boys around to play with all the time. I was so happy to be able to give the Pauls the unique authentic experience of truly living in Hong Kong.
Many thanks to the Paul family for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and visit us in Asia!
