They placed 3rd in their category and 13th out of 70 overall, with a time of 5 hours, 38 minutes.
Later that month we went to the East Asia Regional Conference in Kuala Lumpur. We lived it up in luxury at the Shangri-La hotel! Spending time with colleagues at cocktail parties and catching up with friends from other international schools was great! Oh yeah, and we also attended some great seminars led by education experts.
Leah proved to be a great racing partner to Ryan and professional partner to me. We presented our workshop, “Math Aerobics,” at the conference, and we were thrilled to have 50 people attend!
The biggest news we have is that Ryan finally got a long sought after transfer to the high school. Next year he will be teaching International Baccalaureate Biology (IB Bio is kind of like AP Bio in rigor), which should make him an excellent candidate for a kick-ass job when we get back to the States. This means we will for sure be staying here one more school year, and quite possibly the next as well. Lucky for you, you now have 2 years to vacation in Thailand with personal tour guides!
We are back in the US for 7 weeks starting on June 6th. We hope to catch up with you in person soon!
