Cricket

To celebrate the end of the school year, Ryan and I did something decidedly British: We went to a cricket match. A 20-20 match, to be more specific. Now I can't for the life of me recall what the term 20-20 refers to, but I know it means we didn't have to return for 5 days in a row to see the end of the game.

I don't much like watching sports (rest assured, Ryan watches enough sports for the both of us), but this was actually pretty fun. First, it was super mellow. We rolled into Lord's Cricket Ground with our own beer and sandwiches in hand and just kicked back to watch the fellas practice hitting a ball with a flat bat before the match started. No standing in line for food, no $8 beers. Second, people dressed nicely for the game. Many fans came straight from work, and they looked sharp! Beats men in wife beaters with beer bellies anytime. Third, the players scored.....many, many times. Makes me loathe soccer even more.

Fact: They'd already scored more points in the first half of the match than
all the teams combined in the EPL season. OK, that might not really be
true, but that's how it felt.

The mascot was a pink panther.
Surprise! It rained.
