One of the best things about working at an international school is all the professional development you get to attend. Yesterday I went to a math workshop led by Dan Meyer. If you don't know who he is, check him out on this
Ted Talk and prepare to be impressed. To explain in Ryan speak, if
Marilyn Burns is the John Elway of teaching math, Dan Meyer is Peyton Manning.
He was an excellent workshop leader. He modeled his methods and gave us
so many practical ideas that we could start implementing tomorrow (which is
now today, so I better get to work!).

| Whoa! He's really tall! |
You may recall a
previous blog where I took a picture with Karen Economopolous at the Dana Hall Math Institute a couple of summers ago. Yes, I'm so nerdy that I take pictures of math gurus and post them to my blog.
The best thing about Dan is that he shares
everything he makes and puts it all out there for anyone to use. It got me thinking that it's time for me to be better at sharing, too. I started a
new blog just about my experiences teaching math.
