One Month!

Maddy recently turned four weeks old!

We were very fortunate that she was born in the summer because that meant Ryan had three full weeks with us at home! We were ecstatic about our "Baby Alive" doll that was actually, well, alive! When I was younger Baby Alive was a doll that you fed and immediately her food went down a plastic tube and she pooped out the other end. That's pretty much how it works with a real baby too. Except you get some hugs, kisses, facial expressions, and cries in between.

Life with a newborn has been unpredictable. I expected some crazy nights, but I wasn't fully prepared for crazy days too. Some days she naps all day (what a life!), and other days she can't seem to settle herself. Either way, though, Ryan and I are totally in love.

Some big happenings and learnings include:

• A visit from Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Joe for almost a whole week! 
• Trips to the local park almost every day. 
• Enjoying her playmat for a few minutes every day. 
• A cute look and a smile when being held. 
• Learning to love bath time as mom and dad get better at bathing!
