Madeline - Month 2!

Big things happened in Madeline's second month of life. Her abuela came from California for a two week visit! Roxana the Fox was guest extraordinaire. Want to burp the baby? Yes! Want to change her poopy diaper? Yes! Want to make me breakfast? Yes! I'll never underestimate the benefits of having a mom around with a new baby.

On our daily walk through the park.
Lucky baby got to sleep on grandma many times.
There goes my sleep plan!

We are very typical new parents. We think way too much about sleep (hers and our own) and poop (how many times did she go today? what color is it?). We are very proud of every one of our baby's accomplishments, and if you're not interested in the minute details of a newborn you can stop reading here and jump to the pictures. Her big milestones this month include:
  • Falling asleep on her own! Turns out all the rocking, swaying, and jiggling to sleep were all for naught. She cried during all that nonsense anyway, as if she were saying, "Get outta my grill and let a sister get some rest for Pete's sake!" She still LOVES being held when she sleeps, though, and Grandma Fox indulged her. Evidence above.
She's exhausted!
  • Playing on her playmat by herself for extended periods of time (15 minutes!)
  • Finding her voice. She is cooing a lot now, and I'm sure she's saying something brilliant.
  • Enjoying her new swing.
  • Going to the library!
Board books are for one-month olds.  She's on to
proper picture books now! (She's very advanced.)

We also had some fun social engagements. I have kept in touch with a few of the women from my birthing class so Madeline has some friends her age! Also, our friend Sunny recently had a baby that's just five weeks younger than Mads, and they live a short two blocks away!

Sunny and I met for coffee. Sorry you can't see the babes!
With the ladies from our birthing class.
The woman on the left was our teacher!
Babies in a row at our place.
Here are some more pics...

Deep thoughts with Dad.
I love this picture. The onesie is a little much, but
try to ignore it. It's a hand-me-down!
A boy in pink and a girl in blue? We shun
traditional color associations!
She's so happy!
More MadTV.
Whoa. Picasa did this for me automatically.
It's awesome.
And "One Second Every Day" from month 2.
