The Boys Have Taken Over Birthmonth!

Ryan has been known in our circle of family and friends for celebrating birthmonth (read more about birthmonth in a previous post here.) The year Madeline was born, the birthmonth celebration was whittled down to birthhour, and partially recovered the next year to a full birthday. The year the boys were born, Ryan was lucky to get birthminute.

Now, after 3 celebrations, we see that the boys have taken over birthmonth. We started with a big party early in the month, which we held several weeks before their actual birthday so that our special visitors, Grandma Barbara and Grandpa Joe, could be there. In true Kirchner style, we had a party for our kids that parents could enjoy. We rented out the outdoor space at a local restaurant, and while the kids were corralled, we ate and drank and were generally merry.

Sporting a birthday bowtie.

Pretty dress from Grandma Barbar.

My friend NJ made this cake. I asked her to make something simple: white
frosting, a few sprinkles. This is what she came up with!
Enjoying a cupcake.

And eyeing some more.

Kadie is having her annual cuddle. The last time
she held Tyler was on his first birthday.
The yearly cuddle didn't go nearly as well at the last birthday party.

Three generations!

These little guys make us laugh.

Their second and much tamer celebration was during their Monday playgroup. I made some Rice Krispy treats so they could celebrate with their little friends at the park.

Sugar rush!

And last, we celebrated on their actual birthday with some cupcakes at home. "Do we really need to do this?" Ryan asked. "They've already celebrated twice." I think he's jealous that the boys have commandeered birthmonth.

The cupcakes that almost weren't.
