Reunited...and it Feels So Good

For our first 4-day break of the school year Ryan and I traveled to Switzerland to visit some of our friends with whom we worked in Thailand and who now work in Zurich. While we love traveling and moving to new places, seeing familiar faces is always a treat. There is something special about the relationships you form when you live abroad, and while we worked with Jason, Liz, Mike and Jen for only a few years, we were so excited cuz we're reunited. Hey - hey.

Ryan and I started our journey by dashing through the tube and onto the Heathrow Express to catch our flight at Heathrow Airport. As we were approaching the platform the train was leaving, so we jumped on to the first car we saw. The ride was so first class! No, literally, we accidentally jumped in to a First Class car. Now if you're wondering what the most expensive modes of transportation are, let me rank them for you:

1) Hot air balloon
2) Helicopter
3) Heathrow Express
...
23) Round trip flight from Bangkok to Krabi

Fifteen minutes and $78 later, we arrived at Heathrow and hopped on our plane to Zurich.

Ryan is very Hi-So (High Society, for all you non-Thais).

We spent one night in Zurich, and Jason decided that the best way to spend our time in Switzerland was to go to Italy! We drove to the town of Livigno in the Italian Alps. Our hopes of warm, sunny weather and hiking through the mountains were slashed by a cold front that hit on Friday. We occupied our time by strolling through town, eating pasta, and drinking wine. It was a hard sacrifice.
The view from our hotel room.
What is that bright ball of yellow in the sky? Ryan and I had a hard time
adjusting our eyes to this thing you call "sun."
Mike won our reunion game of Settlers.

We seemed to have a hard time with proportions in Livigno.
I'll trade you my ore for a mini-wheat. Make it frosted.
Mmmmmm, Nutella. Finally, something to satisfy Ryan's gigantic sweet tooth.
This is Zurich, but don't ask us anything about it because we called this city home for about 6 waking hours.
Grazie tanto to our hosts for a great vacation!
